through the jolting spaces
between the train wagons with

visible through the floor as you
head to the Buffet/Dinner wagon
or out to stretch your legs.

Yekaterinburg. Transfer to

Day 5: Yekaterinburg -
breakfast
Founded in 1723 to exploit the
mineral riches of the
surrounding Urals and Siberia,
historically or perhaps
infamously, it was here in
Yekaterinburg that Tsar Nicholas
II and his family were executed
in 1918. A tour of the city
takes in the beautiful new
monastery that marks the site,
along with Ganina Yama - the
monastic complex set in the
taiga forest where the family’s
remains were dumped and later
found. We’ll also head out to
the Europe/Asia border marker -
where you can stand with a foot
on either side of the boundary
marker! Rest of the day free.
Supper & overnight – Homestay

Terelj NP
Morning arrival (subject to

One of the most elevated
countries in the world, Mongolia
is sandwiched between Russian
Siberia and the plains of
northern China. Best known to
the world as a remote, sparse
land where Genghis Khan held
sway over the once far-reaching
Mongolian empire, today's
Mongolia, after decades of
suppression under the Soviets,
is emerging as a unique travel
destination on the
Trans-Siberian.
Protected Terelj National Park
is the most popular of
Mongolia's natural attractions.
Famous for its unique granite
rock formations, pristine alpine
scenery and diverse flora and
fauna, its the place for outdoor
pursuits and getting in touch
with nature. Hike, horse ride
(at additional cost), climb some
rocks, the choice is yours here
in the Mongolian wilderness for
our stay. The Mongolian ger is a
sturdy wood and felt type tent.
Ger means ‘home’ and it’s home
during our stay on the steppe.
Lunch, dinner, overnight (2) –
ger camp*. All meals included
*Please note: Due to extreme
weather, clients undertaking a
classic adventure during the
winter will be accommodated in
permanent accommodation and not
Mongolian gers.
Day 12 -13: Terelj NP - Ulaan
Baatar - breakfast
Transfer to Ulaan Baatar.
Otherwise know as UB to ex-pats,
laid back and provincial Ulaan
Baatar is set in the rolling
foothills of the Bogd Mountain
range, on the banks of the Tuul
River. The city hubbub is
Sükhbaatar Square. The Museum of
Natural History is minutes away.
The Gobi desert is famous for
its archaelogical finds from the
Mesozoic Era, so opt for a visit
if dinosarus are your passion.
The Buddhist temple of
Gandantegchinlen Khiid and the
Winter Palace of Bogd Khaan are
also worth a look. Dinner &
