Day 1 (Mon): Moscow

Sheremetyevo or Domodedovo
airport to our hotel. Overnight

Day 2: Moscow - breakfast
Moscow – To legendary Red Square
by Metro, for a guided walk of
Moscow’s highlights. Rest of day
free. Overnight – Moscow
Day 3: Moscow - Yekaterinburg
- breakfast
Free day. Tonight – included
transfer to rail station for the
train to Yekaterinburg.
Overnight – train
Days 4 to 5: Yekaterinburg
Tonight the train pulls in.
Transfer to accommodation.
Following the trail of the
Romanovs, it was here that Tsar
Nicholas II and his family were
executed in 1918. Breakfast,
then a city tour on day 5 takes
in the new monastery that marks
the murder site and Ganina Yama
- a beautiful, rural monastic
complex built where the family’s
remains where dumped and later
found. On to the Europe/Asia
border marker - where you can
stand with a foot on either side
of the boundary marker! Rest of
the day free. Supper and
overnight (2) - homestay

Day 7 - 8: Yekaterinburg -
Irkutsk - packed breakfast (1)
Very early morning transfer on
day 7 to rail station for onward
train to Irkutsk. Overnight (2)

Day 9: Irkutsk & Lake Baikal
Arrive Irkutsk and on to
Listvyanka village. Offering
striking views of the lake,
Listvyanka is our base. Enjoy
lunch, a guided shorewalk and
visit to the Lake musem.

Day 10 - 11: Irkutsk & Lake
Baikal - breakfast

Day 12: Irkutsk - Ulan Ude -
breakfast
Evening departure to Ulan Ude,
with partial overnight aboard
train.
Day 13 - 14: Ulan Ude -
breakfast
Very early morning arrival.
Transfer to homestay. Later, a
city tour. Thanks to it’s
proximity to Mongolia and China,
the indigenous people of the
region, the Buryats, clung on to
their Tibetan-Buddhist faith
through the Communist era. Visit
Ivolginsky Datsan - a Buddhist
temple and a museum dedicated to
the lives of local people. On
Day 14, breakfast, then free
time ‘til afternoon transfer to
rail station for the train to
Ulaan Baatar. Traditional Buryat
dinner (Day 13) and overnight
(1) - Ulan Ude - homestay
Day 15 - 16: Ulaan Baatar
(Outer Mongolia)
Morning arrival (subject to
border formalities and
inevitable delays) in Outer
Mongolia. A country of unspoilt
natural beauty, Mongolia is a
popular stop on the
Trans-Siberian. On arrival,
transfer to centre, before a
drive to nearby Terelj National
Park for a 2 night stay, where
outdoor pursuits such as horse
riding (optional cost), hiking
and rock climbing are available.
Home on the steppe, is a
Mongolian ger (a sturdy wood and
felt type tent). Lunch, dinner
and overnight (2) - ger camp*.
*Please note: Due to extreme
weather, clients undertaking a
classic adventure during the
winter will be accommodated in
permanent accommodation and not
Mongolian gers.
Day 17: Terelj NP - Ulaan
Baatar - breakfast
Return to Ulaan Baatar. Enjoy
free time exploring the sights
on and just off Sükhbaatar
Square. Dinner and overnight -
hotel
Day 18: Ulaan Baatar -
Beijing
Morning transfer to rail station
for onward train. Overnight -
train
Day 19: Beijing
Keep your eyes peeled for views
of the Great Wall! This
afternoon, the train reaches
