Welcome to Jordan and the start of your Christmas holiday! Arrive Amman, included transfer to hotel. Overnight - Amman

22 Dec: Amman - Jerash - Umm Qais - Amman - breakfast
Striking north, we visit the Graeco-Roman city of Jerash. Built more 2,000 years ago, Jerash is widely regarded as the best-preserved city of the Decapolis, a confederation of 10 Roman cities dating from the 1st century! Exploring the site, we’ll take in the colonnaded street, amphitheatre, nymphaeum, forum and more before continuing to Umm Qais (Gadara), a dramatic black-basalt Roman city of the Decapolis with panoramic views over the Sea of Galilee and the Golan Heights. Overnight - Amman

23 Dec: Amman - Dead Sea - Amman - breakfast
Today, we descend from Amman to the Dead Sea for a chance to test our powers of buoyancy in the mineral-rich waters. Back in the capital, we’ve free time to explore. Overnight - Amman

24 - 25 Dec: Amman - Wadi Musa (Petra) - breakfast
On 24 December, we head south along the Kings Highway, where en route to Petra we visit Umm ar-Risas, a haunted deserted city on the ancient caravan routes, Karak and also Shobak crusader castles. Merry crimble! On 25 December, we visit Petra. Accessing the hidden archaeological treasures of the Rose City on a walk through a narrow, deep siq, where the rocks finally give way to reveal the famous facade of Al-Khazneh (the Treasury), we continue our exploration. Dozens of tombs, temples, an impressive amphitheatre and a Roman colonnaded street await our discovery. Later, an Anglo-Jordanian xmas feast with wine and cheer back in town! Dinner (25 Dec) and overnight (2) - Wadi Musa (Petra)

26 - 27 Dec: Wadi Musa (Petra) - Wadi Rum
On 26 December, there’s a chance to return to the Rose City before our afternoon drive to Wadi Rum. Late this afternoon, we enjoy a 4 x 4 safari across the stunning desertscape. Tonight tuck into dinner, Jordanian-style. On the morning of 27 December, we strike north along the Kings Highway, to the Muslim-Christian market town of Madaba. Famed for it’s Byzantine mosaics, including a biblically important map of the Holy Land made in the 6th century out of two million stone pieces and now housed in the Greek Orthodox Church of St. George, Madaba, its mosaics and little shops offers us gentle respite. A short distance away, we visit Mt Nebo where we take in views across the Promised Land. Dinner (26 Dec) and overnight (1) - Wadi Rum and (1) - Madaba

28 Dec: Madaba - Amman - breakfast
Hotel check-out and included onward transfer to airport.
