Qais - Amman - breakfast
Driving north, we visit Jerash,
one of best-preserved cities of
the Decapolis, a confederation
of 10 Roman cities dating from
the 1st century! We’ll explore a
significant number of preserved
ruins including the classic
Roman colonnaded street,
amphitheatre, nymphaeum and
forum before continuing to Umm
Qais (Gadara), a dramatic
black-basalt Roman city of the
Decapolis with great views over
the Sea of Galilee and the Golan
Heights. Overnight - Amman
28 Dec: Amman - Dead Sea -
Amman - breakfast
Today, we descend from Amman to
the Dead Sea for a chance to
test our powers of buoyancy in
the mineral-rich waters. Back in
the capital, we’ve free time to
explore. Overnight - Amman
29 - 30 Dec: Amman - Wadi
Musa (Petra) - breakfast
On 29 December, we drive south
via Umm ar-Risas, a haunted
deserted city on the ancient
caravan routes, Karak and also
Shobak crusader castles. In Wadi
Musa, we enjoy dinner. On 30
December, we visit Petra.
Walking through the famous siq,
the rocky passageway gives way
to reveal the famous facade of
Al-Khazneh (the Treasury) and
your chance to enjoy an Indiana
Jones moment! Dozens of tombs,
temples, an impressive
amphitheatre and a Roman
colonnaded street then await our
discovery. Want to learn how to

On 31 December, there’s a chance
to return to the Rose City
before our afternoon drive to
Wadi Rum. Late this afternoon,
we enjoy a 4 x 4 safari across
the stunning desertscape. At our
desert camp, enjoy a special New
Year’s Bedouin party with
musical entertainment, a lavish
buffet dinner, party games,
fireworks and champagne toast!
On the morning of 01 January, we
drive north along the Kings
Highway, to Madaba. Famed for
it’s Byzantine mosaics,
including the fascinating map of
the Holy Land made in the 6th
century out of two million stone
pieces and now housed in the
Greek Orthodox Church of St.
George, Madaba, its mosaics and
little shops are a real
drawcard. A short distance away,
we visit Mt Nebo and take in
views across the Promised Land.
