Introduction
A fascinating tour, which brings you a particular flavour of India. A boat trip on the river Ganges, a visit to a holy city and sightseeing around the erotic temples of Khajuraho. This trip not only offers an authentic insight into the great religious and cultural lifestyle of India but also includes the chance to call on rarely visited towns and a leading national park. We begin in the capital Delhi before heading to Varanasi in Uttar Pradesh, one of the seven sacred cities of the Hindus. The highlight though, is our boat trip down the Holy River Ganges in Varanasi, where we take a step back in time and witness the pageant of Indian religious rituals as they unfold before us. Next we drive to the complex of erotically carved Hindu temples at Khajuraho, which were built over 1,000 years ago.Then we go off-the-beaten- track by heading to Orchha, literally meaning 'hidden place'. Another cultural highlight is the very small Muslim and Jain town of Chanderi. This rarely visited town allows us a fascinating insight into local life. We visit Ranthambore National Park for a game drive and the chance to spot a tiger and to complete the trip take a guided tour of the magnificent Taj Mahal and Agra’s Red Fort.
